Armed attack on Canadian cryptocurrency exchange

On Tuesday, at about 11 a.m., three armed robbers entered the Canadian Bitcoins office in Ottawa and attacked four exchange employees. Having tied them up and sending pistols, the offenders demanded to transfer exchange money to them. The fifth employee, who went unnoticed, called law enforcement officers, and the robbers fled with nothing. One of the suspects, a 19-year-old resident of Ottawa, was caught. He was accused of robbery using firearms and violent confinement.
Ottawa police are looking for the other two accomplices in the crime. Ottawa police say the gun is wanted after yesterday’s robbery of the Bitcoin exchange.
The Canadian edition of CBC News reports that criminals were looking for cash on a cryptocurrency exchange.
This is not the first case of an attack on cryptocurrency owners. In November, a New Jersey resident, Louis Metz, attacked a broadcast holder. Threatening with a pistol, he took the smartphone and private keys from the victim, which he used to access the digital wallet. As a result, the fraudster stole cryptocurrency worth $ 1.8 million. The offender faces up to 25 years in prison.
